In Pursuit of Peace - PART II
Peace I leave with you: my own peace I give to you. It is not as the world gives, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.
Jesus himself is our PEACE. Peace is always the result of equilibrated forces, the poise of elements, held in check by one another. So the peace Christ leaves is power to hold the wildest fear in pause, to still a clamor or hush a cry - it is the coming of mercy to a sense of sin, of life to the fear of death.
Jesus is a "I said it; and I mean it" kind of guy. When He said that He gives to us peace, He means just that. Jehovah Shalom is our peace. He gives us the balance that we need to hold it together in our lives. Jesus said He would keep us in perfect peace when our minds are stayed on Him. It is of utmost importance that we take authority over our thought life and our emotions. Don't be emotion led; but spirit led. Your emotions have the ability to take you places you don't want to go and keep you longer than you want to stay. Make every effort to maintain peace in your life and watch God manifest changes in your life.
When plagued with thoughts that seek to steal your peace follow the instructions found in 1 Peter 3: 8-12.
We must choose to practice peace everyday in our lives:
1. Be Agreeable as much as possible. (Don't be augmentative...A person will not argue by themselves.)
2. Be Sympathetic and loving. (Show genuine care and concern for others.)
3. Be compassionate and humble. ( Don't be harsh and abrasive. Bring yourself low in hopes of helping others.)
4. Never retaliate. (Never pay back evil for evil.)
5. No sharp-tongued sarcasm. (Watch your words!!!! Use words that bless and you will receive a blessing.)
6. Run after peace. (You must pursue peace and seek it in every situation.)
