A Friend Called Faith
Inspiration and Meditation
Listen to: He's Been Faithful -- Vicki Yohe
Meditate on: 2 Kings 6:16 And he answered, Fear not: for they that be with us are more than they that be with them. And Elisha prayed, and said, LORD, I pray thee, open his eyes, that he may see. And the LORD opened the eyes of the young man; and he saw: and, behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire round about Elisha.
The day I was diagnosed with breast cancer was the Friday before Mother's Day in 2012. As I sat in the chair and listened to the report concerning the areas biopsied in my breast, I absolutely could not believe my ears. After getting home and processing everything that was said, I felt fear creeping in. The devil told me that I was not going to survive; he said that I was going to die.
It was definitely a scary place to be. My sister was diagnosed in 2012 with breast cancer so that reality actually compounded the threat in my life. When we face difficulties in life, sometimes what seems to be our reality can be quite overwhelming. In life, regardless of the test, there are times we may feel overwhelmed about what we are facing. The question becomes, "How am I going to make it out of this."
Well, Beloved, I want to introduce you to a friend called "Faith". It was faith in God that got me through a cancer diagnosis, chemotherapy, mastectomy, radiation treatment, and just recently the first of two reconstruction surgeries. I know that I never would have made it with out her present help in my "NOW."
Faith will be your friend as you go through your trial. She will show up for every appointment, be with you through every test, arrive for every diagnosis, sit with you throughout every treatment, and encourage you not to be overtaken by what you see with your natural eyes. She will show up in the midst of your marriage, that financial problem, or the issues with your children. She will encourage you to allow her to lead the way and not to trust in your own vision. Faith will lead you to trusting in God with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. She will direct you through prayer and intercession, praise, worship, and the word of God.
In our scripture today, God allowed the men to see through the eyes of faith. God showed them that they were not alone in there circumstances, but that He had sent an army of horses, and chariots of fire.
I encourage you today to meet my friend called FAITH. She wants to be your friend. She will move you out of a place of turmoil, and into a place of peace. She will take you places that you have never been, and allow you to experience things in a way you did not believe possible. She has the heart of God and is inspired by His spirit. She will not lead you astray because she is directed by the Holy Spirit. Open the door and let her in... Have "Now Faith" which is the faith required for your present situation. Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is confidence in what we hope for and assurance about what we do not see.
