Meditate on: Genesis 22:2 And He said, Take now thy son, thine only son Issac, whom thou lovest, and get thee into the land of Moriah; and offer him there for a burnt offering upon one of the mountains which I will tell thee of.
In Genesis there is recorded a story of remarkable trust and faith. Abraham and his wife Sarah became parents well into old age. They finally received their son of promise and they, as most parents would be, were elated. God initiated a covenant with Abram (His name was later changed to Abraham) earlier in the book of Genesis and made several promises to him. One of the promises was that all the families of the earth would be blessed through him. He told Abram that the son that came forth from his seed would be his heir and his family lineage would exceed the stars in the sky. God sent messengers to Abram to tell he and his wife Sarah that they would have a son. In spite of their ages, which was well beyond child bearing age, a son would be born. The bible says he believed in the LORD; and He counted it unto him for righteousness. Abram believed God to be a Promise Keeper. Their son was born and they named him Issac. This was the son of promise.
In Genesis chapter 22, Abraham and God are in a conversation. God told Abraham to take his only son Issac, that he loved dearly to Moriah and offer him there for a burnt offering upon a mountain.
Abraham was obedient and took Issac and prepared for the offering. Abraham built an altar, laid the wood, bound his son, and laid his only son on the altar upon the wood. Then Abraham in obedience stretched forth his hand, and took the knife to slay his son. That is when the Lord stepped in and told him not to sacrifice his son.. God had provided a ram and Abraham released his son and sacrificed the ram.
Abraham called the name of that place Jehovah-jireh "The Lord will see ahead and provide".
Abraham believed God to be a Promise Keeper. He did not waver in his faith but believed that what ever God had planned was greater than anything he could image. He trusted God to bring the word that He had spoken to him to pass. That word included Issac being the heir of promise by which the world would be blessed. The blessing was released through Abraham's obedience.
What word has God spoken to you? Are you a believer to that which was spoken? Are you walking in obedience in faith as you believe God to bring it to pass? It may look like it is not going to come to pass but, you can trust God that He is in control and He is working it out. Abraham could not walk out this assignment with logic, but he had to walk it out by faith. And we as well must believe. If God said it, that settles it despite the trial or tribulation. You can trust God; he never lies or fall short of his promises. On Him you can rely, He is a Promise Keeper. Now activate your faith and respond in obedience and watch God fulfill his promises in your life!
2 Corinthians 1:20 For all the promises of God in Him are Yes, and in Him Amen, to the glory of God through us.
