FACING THE GIANT
I Samuel 17:47 "Then all this assembly shall know that the LORD does not save with sword and spear; for the battle is the LORD's, and He will give you into our hands."

Meditate on: Proverbs 3:5-6 Trust in the LORD with all your heart and lean not to your own understanding; in all your ways acknowledge Him, and He will direct your paths.
The Serenity Prayer
God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and wisdom to know the difference.
When David was yet but a young boy, he made a decision that angered his brother and baffled many. He decided to take a stand against a giant that was almost twelve feet tall. This giant was larger than life and had threatened King Saul and the children of Israel. Day after day, for forty days Goliath stood on a hill, and challenged the Jews. The challenge: Goliath alone would represent the Philistine army, Israel should send one person to represent their army for battle. And whoever wins the battle, would receive the losers as their slaves.
David had a mission when he left home. He was to take provisions to his brothers from their father. Afterwards, he would return home with a report of their condition in the wake of the impending war. David had no idea what he was about to face.
Most of us that are on a journey to health and wellness, are like David. We were living our lives with hopes and dreams and had no idea of what was around the corner. We were working, taking care of family, going shopping, attending church and other family and social events. We were living our lives....
Then all of a sudden, we are threatened by this giant. We didn't know whether to run, hide, scream, or cry. All we know is "I did not Plan for this." None of us planned to be sick, financially challenged, or have family problems. Oftentimes, when we face an illness it creates other issues in our lives. We are no longer able to work, so it creates a financial challenge. Our families are also taxed emotionally as a result of medical treatments and our inability to function normally. This emotional taxing sometimes create family or relationship problems.
When David made the decision to fight Goliath, he knew his ability to win was connected to his confidence in God. He understood that the battle was not his but the Lords.
I Samuel 17:45 Then David said to the Philistine, "You come to me with a sword, with a spear, and with a javelin. But I come to you in the name of the LORD of hosts, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defied. 46 This day the LORD will deliver you into my hand, and I will strike you and take your head from you.
As we face this giant of cancer or ___________ (you fill in the blank), have confidence in God. This giant may seem larger than life, but the bigger they are the harder they fall. The battle does not belong to us...It is the LORDs! David's response to Goliath was that of a champion. He prevailed in victory using one of five smooth stones because he trusted in God.
We symbolically have five stones for our use today. They are: (1) Prayer (2) Fasting (3) Confession (4) The Bible (5) Communion
Today face your giant in confidence, utilize your stones; and you, like David, will triumph in victory. Remember, the battle is not yours, but Gods. Have confidence in Him; He is able to deliver you! Now, get your smooth stone....Place it in the sling shot....Begin to turn it round and round........Now, let it go!
Anticipate and Expect the victory in Jesus name!
